In recent months I've received numerous emails and PMs regarding Yuku Friends and Comments. I will attempt to explain by quoting and paraphrasing a long-time member (Ben) who explained it best about the time I first set up my Yuku test board last year so that I could learn how to navigate, not just FF&F once I migrated it to Yuku from ezBoard, but also the Yuku network.
One of ezBoard's main strengths was the large network of message boards. Yuku takes this one step further by allowing you to interact with people in their profiles.
If you're just starting out, you may not have many Kudos or Friends. People may know you from FF&F or other boards where you post, so here's how to get started.
1. Make your profile interesting to those who pass through. There are numerous profile skins in colors or styles you may like. You can even make your own. Include a link to your favorite board or boards.
2. If you have time, join some other boards that pertain to your interests and begin posting.
3. If you have your own board, don't start out by saying "Come and visit my board" unless there is a designated links forum within the board you're visiting.
4. Reply to posts; don't just drop in to post your news and then leave.
5. As you start to find people with whom you get along, pass along a Kudo and add them to your Friends list.
6. If your friendship request is accepted, post a comment on the person's profile to say hi. Again, board owners, don't start out by saying "Come and visit my board."
7. Make an effort to stay in touch with your Friends. Many people like to receive profile comments or messages. Don't do it once and then never visit your Friends' profiles again.
8. If you are an Administrator or Moderator of a board, check your new members' profiles. Give them a Kudo, request their friendship, let them feel welcome and that you enjoy their participation at the board where you moderate. Stay in touch with those members, too.
Gradually, people will start to check out your profile and perhaps visit your board links, too.

All Yuku accounts come with 30 megs of image storage space. For $12 a year, you can have 100 megs if you purchase YukuSupporter.
Enjoy Yuku. Be social.
