Thank you SO much! Help found for TNR |

I posted a question recently about our pregnant feral cat. You were all so very helpful! After that, I have lurked around just reading different threads. Yesterday, I happened upon a thread about an injured feral, and trapping it for treatment. That got me to looking more around, and I found the link to information about TNR. I did research and could not find a program in my area that did this. However, I did find a program that deals in preventing animal cruelty. I figured I'd give it a shot and email them. I got an email back today letting me know they DO participate in TNR, and they would gladly bring humane traps to me, show me how to use them, and pay for the vet costs for the 3 ferals I have here. I am so very happy. I adore these cats and feed them and care for them daily. I just don't have the funds to take them to a vet. I am thrilled to find people willing to help so that I can give even better care to these wonderful cats. I never would have found this out if it weren't for your site, so I huge THANK YOU to you for that!

Yay! I'm glad you found the info you needed and that your ferals will be coming up in the world with their freshly spayed and neutered selves!

Lori: I'm so happy for you and your ferals. Sometimes it seems like one is all alone with their problems and fears to help the stray ones. I know how it is not to have the necessary funding. I would be lost without others who have similar goals and interests. Keep us posted on how your little ones are doing. Hugs to you and scritches to your ferals.

I just heard from the lady who is bringing the traps out. She can't be here until tomorrow, and she has a vet who can do all 3 kitties on Saturday. I have a fear though. I noticed a very large yellow cat the last few days, and I just have this sneaking feeling it is a male. What happens if they get the cats there and find one or more are already pregnant? Will they do anything at all with them? Also, will they run tests on them for disease and give them shots, or do they just neuter/spay and that's it. Sorry if my questions seem silly. I'm new to all of this and am pretty clueless!
I'm worried that once we release the cats they will resent me so much that they will just take off. Will this be traumatizing for my little ones? Thanks to you all! (This is totally off topic, but is there a reason I am showing only 2 posts when I have more than that? It doesn't really matter, I was just curious! )

Yes nearly all TNR programs spay pregnant cats and if this tom has only been around a while it is more likely that one or more of the females is in season.Hopefully the male will be able to be neutered soon as well, most programs don't give vaccinations that I have been with as well because you will never be able to revaccinate each year, which leads to my next answer,no most cats don't hate us for the operation they turn their hate towards the trap and sometimes the vet, they become trap wary,to get them in a trap again can be not impossible but hard.As for testing for the testing of diseases this is not done in my country but it is done in America in nearly all the programs that I have heard of,this is such a useful thing to do and as I said retrapping can be hard. Most cats go in the trap the first day or two,if not it is normally a 3 week battle ,persistance wins in the end
The wrong post count is normally a glitch in your account,go to your control centre,at the bottom of the page you will see where to go to report problems or see if other folk are having the same problems too,(ezmessage me if you are lost) Good luck with the trapping I have all my fingers and toes crossed for a good result ![]() |
