Blood in stools.......

I just seen Rumely going as I was switching over laundry, and her stool has blood in it. I looked at her bottom, and she has blood there too.

I am at a loss, but did get her stool to take to the vets. Should I be worried? I have to work tomorrow, so she can't go in then, it'll have to be on Tuesday.

Any help or suggestions would be aprreciated, as I am a tad concerned.

My husband and I TNR ferals and try to find homes for stray cats and kittens. We just moved to this area, (Central California), from the San Francisco area. I am shocked at how many ferals are around here, and how few services there are. In the last year I have spay/neutered at least 35 cats on my own. All of these cats are just from the block I live on! Kitten Eye Drainage

Hey All,

Whitey and her 4 kittens are doing great. However, I am noticing a little drainage from their eyes. Is this the dreaded "respiratory condition" that I have heard about? They are not sneezing and their eyes are not "glued" with secretion. But, they are draining some fluid in the corners.

Is this an immediate need for vet care? Can I wipe them with a warm cotton swab? Can it wait until they are 8 weeks old and going to see the vet anyway?...

Hey There,

I'd like your opinions on entertaining the idea of keeping one of "Whitey's" kittens. The kittens are all doing well. They are 12 days old today and their eyes are opening. We are considering keeping a kitten as a companion for "Cole", our inside 1 year old neutered male cat.

My concerns are:

Cole is a very "interactive" cat with us. He definitely likes his "people". We like his interaction with us...

Tika (my 6yr old kitty) has adjusted pretty well to Kali (9yr old Lab) being part of the family now, I guess this is because Tika's practically a dog herself! Introducing of two cats

Rumely being the resident cat, needs to take top priority, I know that much. I am really unsure of myself in the process of introducing the two cats to each other.

The vet has given me a few words of advice, and Suse, you have also. I am still very leary, and down right green. I hope it goes as smooth as mud, but, would like to see if anyone has any words of wisdom, or helpful hints.

Should I give them more time to get used to each other's sounds through the bathroom...

Gas and burps in cat

The rescue cat is doing well, but has really bad gas, and burps alot. The vet thought it might just be the change in diet, as he was probably eating a very poor diet, and is now on a regular feeding schedule, and proper food diet. Does that sound reasonable?

She also said his belly felt bloated from gas,a nd squeeszed it a bit, and sure enough he passed gas,a nd burped at the same time.

He still inhales his food, and I hope that eases up, when he realizes there will be...

This morning I looked out the bedroom window and saw Bambi (our 3 1/2 year old kitty - who was having difficulty adjusting to Max's death) over the road in our neighbours drive. I had a horrible feeling that something bad was going to happen so I put on my shoes to go get her.

I looked out to see if she was still across the road but by now she was actually trotting across the road to come home.

Lack of Socialization......(She likes me..)

I couldn't think of a better title I guess. I just had to share what Rumely did today. Now keep in mind, she is a good cat, but I feel she lost alot of socialization skills living outside as long as she did, before we took her in.

Well, she loves "my" blanket I use that sits on the back of our couch. As soon as she sees it come down, she comes over to curl up with me. Lately I have left it down for her since we are in our winter season here.

Hyperthyroidism

Well, it's been a while since we've had to deal with this but here we go again... Our tiniest, fearful kitty, Spooky, started losing weight a while ago...she eats constantly but has bouts of diarrhea and vomiting...our vet confirmed our suspicions yesterday that she has hyperthyroidism. So, we are back dealing with thyroid meds with a cat who is extremely hard to pill. Luckily she seems to love pill pockets though and is taking her meds without a problem!! I'm so glad we found...

Rumely goes through periods where she will sleep all nite, or at least not need our undivided attention in the middle of the night, and then....there are the periods where she feels the need to wake us alot! poor little thing, I think she stepped in her water then in her litter...........it must have been like that for a few days, because it is really hard and caked in

I'm interested in other folks' experiences with holistic remedies. In an attempt to help a foster cat adjust I'm particularly looking at www.spiritessence.com and its Bully and Foster care formulas. While I do use herbal remedies for myself and certainly believe in their efficacy I'm reluctant to spend money on what could turn out to be a bunch of hooey. Door Knocking

It sounds hard to believe but Callie has now figured out how to knock on the door to be let inside at my parents house.

It happened almost by accident but she realised what was going on and figured out how to use it to her advantage.

My Mom had put a small table just outside the front door under the porch. It just happened to be situated within paws reach of the (rather loose) door knocker.
